Election Law - Perillo Hill Secures First of Its Kind Judicial Preclearance Under NY John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act

Representing a municipality that had enacted a local law, Perillo Hill sought and obtained judicial preclearance approval pursuant to New York’s John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act (NYVRA). It appears that this is the first application for, and approval of, judicial preclearance under the relatively new NYVRA. (Preclearance may also be sought administratively through the Attorney General’s Civil Rights Bureau).
